Non-Medical Home Care Services

Most of what keeps a senior at home is not medical at all

What actually decides whether someone can keep living at home is rarely a diagnosis. It is whether they can bathe safely, eat properly, take the right pills at the right time and not be alone all day. Non-medical home care exists precisely for that list.

  • Aging in place, made real

The support that turns "I want to stay in my home" from a wish into a plan: daily help, a safer house and someone dependable coming through the door.

  • The full daily toolkit

Personal care, meals, housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, transportation and companionship, combined however your family needs them.

  • Simpler and more affordable

No doctor’s order needed, no facility buy-in, no long contract. Hourly care you control, often covered by long-term care insurance or VA benefits.

What non-medical home care includes

The name says what it is not. Here is what it is: the complete practical layer of daily support, delivered by trained caregivers in the client’s own home.

Care for the person

Bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, transfers and steady support for anyone unsteady on their feet. Caregivers also provide medication reminders and keep an experienced eye on changes in appetite, mood, skin and mobility, flagging them to family early.

Care for the home

Cooking, light housekeeping, laundry, dishes and groceries. A safe, clean, well-stocked home is the foundation of independent living, and it is often the first thing to slip when age makes chores heavy.

Care for the life

Conversation and companionship, rides to appointments and outings, help staying in touch with family, and encouragement to keep up the walks, hobbies and habits that make a week worth living. Isolation shortens lives; a good caregiver is the antidote.

How we help families

Families usually come to non-medical care through one of three doors.

When the family conversation turns to "maybe it is time for a facility," non-medical home care is the alternative that usually wins once it is priced and compared. Care comes to the home, the ratio is one-to-one, and nothing about your loved one’s world has to be given up.

  • One-on-one attention instead of shared staffing.
  • Home, neighbors, pets and routine kept.
  • Costs that scale with hours actually needed.
  • No wrenching move, no waiting list.

Medicare-covered home health stops when clinical goals are met, but the daily needs it revealed do not stop with it. Non-medical care picks up where the nurses left off, keeping meals, safety and routines solid for the long run.

  • Seamless pickup when home health discharges.
  • The therapy homework kept up, safely.
  • Daily structure that protects the recovery.
  • One agency relationship for the long term.

Not sick, not frail, just quietly struggling with a few things and too proud to say so. This is where non-medical care shines earliest and cheapest: a few hours a week that patch the gaps, protect independence and postpone bigger interventions for years.

  • Light-touch help without the "caregiver" label.
  • The risky tasks covered: driving, bathing, ladders.
  • Someone trustworthy checking in each week.
  • A relationship in place before a crisis needs one.

Starting care

Getting help in place is simpler than most families expect. Four steps, usually completed within a day or two, and nothing to sign until you are sure.

  1. Step 1

    Conversation

Call us and tell us what is happening. No script, no pressure. We will tell you honestly whether home care is the right answer for your family.

  2. Step 2

    Assessment

A care coordinator visits your home, looks at the practical realities of the house, and talks with your loved one directly about what they want.

  3. Step 3

    Care Plan

You get a written plan with specific hours, tasks and goals, so everyone knows what success looks like. It changes as needs change.

  4. Step 4

    Your Caregiver

We match on skills and on personality, and we introduce you before care begins. If the fit is wrong, we change it at no cost.

Frequently asked questions

If you have questions about how this service works, we are here to help. These are the ones families ask us most, and you can always call for a straight answer.

Ask us anything

It is professional support with the activities of daily living rather than treatment of illness: personal care, meals, housekeeping, medication reminders, transportation and companionship, delivered by a licensed non-medical home care agency. It requires no doctor’s order and no diagnosis, just a need for a helping hand at home.

Home health care is clinical treatment at home: nurses, wound care, therapy, ordered by a doctor and usually paid by Medicare in short visits. Non-medical home care is the daily support around it, for as many hours as you choose. One treats; the other keeps life running. Most seriously ill seniors need both.

Traditional Medicare does not cover non-medical hourly care, which it classifies as custodial care. Families typically pay privately, through long-term care insurance, or through VA Aid and Attendance for qualifying veterans and surviving spouses. Some Medicare Advantage plans include limited in-home support benefits, and we will help you check yours.

Anything clinical: administering medication, injections, wound care, or changing medical equipment settings. We remind, assist, observe and report, and we coordinate with nurses and doctors when something needs a license. Families appreciate that we are clear about the line and never wing it.

Typically within a few days of the free assessment, and within 24 hours when the situation is urgent, such as a hospital discharge. Call (562) 448-3854 and we will move at the speed your situation requires.

Start small and start early. A few hours a week prevents the falls, missed medications and isolation that create the big needs, and it builds a trusted relationship before a crisis. The families who wait usually tell us they wish they had not.
